Crafting My Bliss

It took me some time to create this website. My thoughts easily went in different directions, even after I decided on the original site; Backyard Oasis. My garden and all my projects are a big part of me and showcase the things I enjoy. They are not all-encompassing to me and my creativity. I shared my blog idea with people close to me and they were supportive, but some of them also said there was more to my creativity than my backyard projects. I thought about what they said, but I was stuck. I could not figure out how to include other projects or if I even wanted to include them. I was anxious to start my blog and I did not want to put it off any longer.

Over the years, several people suggested I start a blog, but I was too shy and too busy to pursue it. My creativity was meant for me and my family. I turned my house into a home. Everything I did was to create a warm, cozy space for my family and close friends. I wanted my kids to feel comfortable and be able to move freely around the house. I wanted my husband to come home and be able to relax in a cozy space. I did not want guests to feel like they had to walk on eggshells. Everything from the wall colors to the decor was well thought out for this purpose. I never saw it as a skill. I was simply expressing myself. I am not very talkative, I prefer to express myself creatively. I gave myself projects with a purpose and they helped maintain my sanity when my children were young. I relieve stress by doing hands-on activities. It started with crafty things like wrapping yarn around a beer bottle and placing eucalyptus in it as a decorative accent for the dining room. Then, I went into more laborious things like building a wooden table for my kids to work and play on. Eventually, I moved my creativity outside into my yard.

After thinking about where and how it all started, I realized that I had a lot to share. My creativity takes place inside and outside the house. My creativity also has seasons. This website is about me creating a space that makes me happy and how I share this happiness with the people in my life. I hope you enjoy my journey in Crafting My Bliss.
