Crafting My Bliss

It’s Planning Time

I still have not had an opportunity to rake the leaves. The weather and my schedule have not allowed it. Hopefully, I will be able to get to it soon.

Since it is winter there are not a lot of opportunities for me to get out into the yard. I can start planning what I want to do in the yard once the weather warms up. I started growing vegetables a few years ago. Usually, I get the starter plants from Home Depot or Lowes. Last year I started everything from seed for the very first time. I had several different herbs and vegetables. In the end, the only things that survived were the tomatoes, green beans, collard greens (which are still out there), jalapenos, cayenne, chili and sweet peppers. This is my third year in a row growing peppers and tomatoes. They are fairly easy to grow and I definitely end up with more than I need. I have proven to myself that I can successfully grow these things and now I am ready for a challenge.

I am very interested in holistic healing. I usually opt for a more natural approach to dealing with certain ailments for myself and my family. Recently I started researching foods that help with my digestion and inflammation. Ginger is already one of my favorite things to eat and has proven to be very helpful with both, but I want more options. After combing through a few books and articles I compiled a list of different herbs and vegetables to grow in my garden so this year I will be gardening with a purpose.

I will still incorporate some of the flowers that I love and I have some perennials that will add some beauty to my outdoor space. Now I am going to add a holistic garden to include some herbs like peppermint, chamomile, and parsley.
